George is a New York City dachshund with a serious eye for fashion. His owner, Kimberly Bowe, joined him for Anthony Rubio’s Dog Fashion Week, where George made his runway debut and quickly found himself at home in front of the cameras. We caught up with George after the show to hear all about his runway moment, fashion crush and plans for his next appearance.
I came, I posed, I conquered.
George, you’ve officially survived Dog Fashion Week. How was it?
George: "Survived? Darling, I was born for the runway. Between the flashing cameras, fabulous Anthony Rubio outfits, and all the attention, I’d say I handled it pawsitively beautifully. New York Fashion Week has always needed a little more fur, four legs, and wet noses. I came, I posed, I conquered."
What was your favourite moment from the week?
George: "My favorite moment was walking onto the runway at Anthony Rubio’s first show with my human model. The crowd gave us the sweetest little cheer, and then someone yelled MY name! Hearing “George!” from the audience was a moment I will never forget. For a little dachshund from NYC, there’s nothing quite like hearing your name on the runway, which makes me feel bigger. I think I have found my calling."
After all, the runway may be long, and my body tiny, but my star power is endless.
What was it like walking the runway with all eyes and cameras on you?
George: "Honestly, I felt right at home! All eyes on me, cameras flashing, and a runway to work it? That’s just another day in the life of George. I gave them my best angles, my resting “George face” (very serious expression), and plenty of personality. After all, the runway may be long, and my body tiny, but my star power is endless."
Which dog or look really caught your attention?
George: "Oh, this is easy. Hands down my future wife, Chanel, caught my eye. Not because of her innate beauty but her Anthony Rubio dress was exquisite. It is a turquoise/Tiffany blue long dress with hand-sewn pearls and jewels intricately mixed in with a white chiffon circular patch pattern. The arm holes included white tiny angel wings. Chanel’s white fur made this dress really pop."
I will be back in February for the next New York Fashion Week and I cannot stop dreaming about my future Anthony Rubio couture.
Did you make any new friends backstage?
George: "Of course! Backstage was a whirlwind of fabulous outfits, fabulous people, and some very fashionable four-legged friends. I made a few new friends, both human and dog. We exchanged some very important sniffs and, naturally, made sure everyone knew who George was. Fashion may bring us together, but wagging my tail along with my adorable face (have you seen my eyebrows?) seal the deal. I do love a well-connected social circle."
Would you come back for the next Dog Fashion Week?
George: "Do you even have to ask? Absolutely! I will be back in February for the next New York Fashion Week and I cannot stop dreaming about my future Anthony Rubio couture. My outfits are getting better each show! More fashion, more fabulous friends, more cameras and hopefully another bigger cheer when I arrive on the runway! Anthony Rubio, consider this my official RSVP. George is always ready for his close-up."
